Apple Cover?

    Hello again,

I've been looking on the Apple website in view of purchasing the new i-Mac & Apple offer 3 yrs cover for €150 (not bad eh)? However, a member of staff in PC World today tells me that it does not cover accidental damage whereas PC World's will (at double the price)!

Can anbody confirm that the cover offered by Apple will not cover accidental damage?

    Cheers.

Ok Apple have what they call applecare which covers your system for parts and labour if it fails for X period. It does not cover for damage if you say put a hammer through it. The people in pc whatever sounds like they need some commission how would they fix it anyway? Last time anyone spoke to me about that croud well I wont say! anyway when you go back in there ask them do they sell the film The Sting.

I would strongly recommend NOT to get PC World cover. It's a money making scam, essentially. I think they might get commission as well, which is why they'll tell you anything to get a sale.

As far as AppleCare, though, it is true that it doesn't cover accidental damage. Like don't try to take a hammer to your iMac by accident. ;)

I forgot to mention, the nice thing with AppleCare is that you don't have to get it right away, you can get it any time before the 1 year warranty expires, without paying extra.

Thank you! I was wondering that. I just ordered a macbook and when already paying out €1200 as a student the extra €265 is quite a bit but this time next year I'll be in a better position to fork out €265 (i hope)

Thanks for the good advice guys;) Will steer clear of the PC World scamers so! The guy in there could talk for Ireland about the i-Mac alright (nothing to do with comission I suppose):D :D

Now can anybody answer my other query before I make my purchase.........

Compatible music downloading sites? I use a site called 'UseNext' that I found on bitlord.com & would like to know if it would work on my i-Mac?

    Regards.

UseNext is compatible with iTunes and the Mac. In fact, I am trying out their 14 day trial at the moment, and it works grand.

One of the best Usenet readers for the Mac is Unison (UseNext works with any Usenet reader). You can find Unison at http://www.panic.com/unison/ or through MacUpdate or VersionTracker.
