Battery problem with Packard Bell

I bought my laptop last January in a computer shop in Galway (in wellpark). My modem packed-in a few days later so I got a new one. Now the battery's life has dropped to about 15 minutes. I do use the laptop alot, but this seems ridiculous. Is this normal??.. rephrase: how common is this? Is this covered by the insurance (which cost me 300euros)??

    Thanks

    insurance
depends - though most laptop batteries are only covered for a year

ya actually I have it plugged in more or less non-stop.

Is the damage irreversible? or do I just wait to get a new battery. Its only 6 months old.

I don't think theres a whole lot you can do about it. Extending the battery life is difficult to do. Do what you can to keep the battery and laptop cool, discharge the battery fully ever few months and recharge to see if there any difference. Laptop batteries only have a certain amount of cycles before the charge will begin to fade and require you to charge it constantly. I guess you could also turn off unnecessary stuff, like if you have a wireless card or some such thing.

I had a packard bell and after 6 months there was a problem with the charger in the laptop itself, it got worse and worse until i only had 20 seconds of battery time in the end. It wouldn't have mattered if i changed the battery because the problem was with the laptop itself. It wasn't covered under warranty because standard packard bell warantees only covered battery and power supply for 6 months. It was a recognised problem with a lot of easynote laptops
