problem 1;keep on getting "satellite signal not being recieved" on a few channels. tried going through the power off ,back on routine, the stations came back but went again after an hour or so

problem 2; when schrolling through channels the numbers dont continue they go back to 101, 102...etc

note that this is an old box that i had to activate on thursday when my old box gave up the ghost

It maybe needs an update. Read the FAQ in ICDGopedia

Or just leave it runinng and it may update.

Sounds like a dodgy lnb or dish slightly out??

i just installed a new LNB, but now suspect that my digibox is fecked, i get a signal for maybe 3-4 minutes, then it freezes, then no signal.i knock it off at the mains, turn it on, get a signal once every 5-6 times i do this, then it freezes again.no idea what's wrong. anybody know what the problem is, or if i can fix it?

Might be the tuner. Not user replaceable. About £20 and require professional soldering tools and experience to replace.

Very likely if it is a Pace 2500.

If it a PSU fault they are harder to fix. Some early models had a separate replacable PSU.

I agree with watty, it sounds like the tuner could be on the way out.

this evening the paramount channels are back and 141. 142, 157 and 357
are gone so would that be the tuner acting up like you said watty?

in the past week 4 sky boxes have given up the ghost, a coincidence or a problem with a software update on older boxes?

Funny, I've come across a few boxes with dead tuners recently too.

I was wondering if it may be atmospheric changes that causes the problems, like electro static causign boxes to die?

Could be the age of that batch of Pace?

Electrostatic discharge etc wrecks the LNB front end (The 24GHz GaAs transistors die with more than 4V, compared with 60V for ordinary Silicon Transistors). Don't beleive the tuner would be damaged unless you got a near or direct lightning strike.

The LNB dies utterly usually with ESD.
