Seagate and Mac;not recognizing,why?

My mac has stopped recognizing my external hard drive. I was saving files on it and then moved it and now it won't recognize the seagate when I put it in with the firewire. It doesn't make sense that it was there first and now it says I need to verify it. PLease help!Need to fix this asap. Thanks
