    1000 Families Exhibition

Suas Educational Development and Concern Worldwide in conjunction with IBM and Irish Aid, are currently seeking volunteers to assist with the delivery of the upcoming 1000 Families Exhibition. This event is an exhibition of 70 large (A0 size) freestanding images of families from across the globe. The exhibition will take place in Merrion Square, Dublin from mid September until the end of October.

The images are sourced from a book entitled "1000 Families – The Family Album of Planet Earth" which is a compilation of photographs taken by German photographer Uwe Ommer as he travelled across 130 countries meeting with families just before the millennium. The objective of the exhibition is to act as a catalyst for discussion on a wide variety of issues from interculturalism in Ireland to development issues and reciprocity to what it means to be a family.

Coinciding with the exhibition will be a series of events and workshops designed to capture some of the issues the exhibition potentially raises. This events series will include:
    • Seminars on managing diversity in the workplace, interculturalism in the media and teaching a multi-ethnic classroom
    • An intercultural week involving third level students coordinated by Suas societies from campuses across Dublin.
    • A photography competition for primary and secondary school children
    • Family day in Merrion Square

Enthusiastic volunteers are required to assist with the marketing and delivery of these events as well as the exhibition itself. The role presents an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in events management, marketing and PR. Volunteers are required to be over eighteen and while preferable, no previous experience is necessary.
If you would be interested in getting involved in this project or would like further information on the event please feel free to contact volunteer.1000families@suas.ie. This information is also found in the attached PDF.

NOTE: In order to volunteer for this project you must be a resident of Ireland and preferably living within the Dublin vicinity.
