    With this

    can I connect it to any kind of internal hardrive, and then save money over a traditional external hardrive, or is there a catch?

    That is for a SATA drive, if you have IDE then get the IDE version and yes it makes an internal disk into an external that you can carry around from PC to PC.

    No catch, just that you have to put them together yourself.

    pc world sell the netgear one. its easy to use tbh. just read the manuals
