Now that the Satellite forum is under the boards.ie umbrella directly, can the embargo on discussion of foreign subs be removed?

They are also trying to do away with the foreign satellite forum. They feel there is no need for two forums about satellite.

well, i think its mad that i have to jump forums to read about foreign satellite stuff and so on. not everyone is interested in sky or is even resident in uk or ireland either.dunno, mods what u think?
My local satellite provider is UPC Direct, so that kills any interest in Sky as it stands.

But as far as "knowlegde base" goes, most here have loads of experience to share or advise through either this forum or via PM's as I have discovered.
It dosent have to be directly on the forum to be asked!

And what has that to do with the price of fish? Why should the rule be changed? Just because a forum moves within a hiarchey? The same mods are still in place so i can't see anything changing.

Just a few words specific to the Satellite forum

For the advoidance of doubt: we have no problem with members discussing foreign FTA services such as Deutsche Welle, 3sat, CNN, or the like. What we have a problem with is people discussing subscriptions to foreign pay-TV services like CanalPlus (or its varients), Premiere World, or Sky Italia. These services are not meant to be viewed here and discussing such services envitably involves discussing piracy. Which is illegal.

Well the Eurosat/ForeignSat forum shows that non-Sky Pay TV discussion without piracy is possible.

Is it possible to have a list of legitimate non-Sky Pay TV subs?
Also there are a lot of Polish people. While you can't easily directly subscribe to Polsat or the more popular Cyfra+, lots of people here have it and EU/Ireland/Poland does not object as long as they are valid subscriptions.

I think we need to differentiate between three things:
    1) What is legal and Illegal
    2) what Pay TV providers Offically don't like, but in reality don't mind (All of Gibralter having Sky Subs).
    3) What pay TV providers might try to sue or get injunction to close site about.

As a member of the EU, you have the right to buy any legal goods from any EU country. And that includes official Pay TV subscriptions. I wonder why not a single person in the EU has been prosecuted for selling or buying an official subscription from its country of origin within the EU to another country with in the EU?

Come on Mod, please drop this silly rule. :)

p.s: I will strongly support any rule on this board which stop viewing Pay-Tv illegally ( i.e. hacking/cracking codes etc )

The pay TV Euro Sport Forum is now currently called Foreign Sat and is beside the other ICDG forums.

    Boards.ie and local rules apply.

Also now it NOT hosted, I imagine Devore, Cloud, Vexorg and Regi etc will charge advertising fees to those specifically promoting pay TV cards.
