If you have axa car insurance, you can get a fuel card for Statoil garages with discounted prices on your petrol/diesel. petrol is 115.5 with the card this month.

You can also get a 15% discount on anything in Halfords. You just print off a voucher from the website.

Really not being smart, saw this offer already and giggled to myself. First of all, Statoil are selling petrol at 113.9 in new ross with 5cent a litre of if you spend €25 in their shop (forget about the 5cent of, another scam altogether) and secondly if you use their card to get the discount they will know how much petrol your buying therefore be able to work out how many miles you are driving and will most likely take this into account when you go to renew your insurance next year..... I could be wrong but I don't trust them!!!
Anyway sory, don't want to be putting a downer on your thread

You can get that card free from Benchmark anyway without axa. It is 110 at them moment. It is ok if tere are no cheaper outlets nearby

can a private customer get a benchmark card and does it cost anything to have the card?? Sounds great value as no 110 around me at all, cheapest is 117 in Cork and local is 119.

Yes You only need a current account for the DD payment each month.

    112 tonight in Waterford.

There's always been the local rumour that the place on the Model Farm Road sells "watered" petrol. I've always found it suspicious that there is no brand name at all, not even "Amber" or the like.

The motorcard is useful, I think that it's always been the cheapest in the last two months or so, here in Cork anyway.

Petrol was cheap in Waterford when I was down there last weekend. I think that's because they have a Tesco petrol station there.

Better be prepared to back that one up there dudara, are you actually aware of how an underground fuel tank works?

They buy petrol from whoever is the cheapest, the other day it was TOP Oil who was filling them up, before Amber. Makes little difference who supplies them as the petrol in this country comes from a central reserve and refining process in Whiddy and Whitegate respectivly, both of which I have been inside.

Whitegate has a constant stream of trucks from all the major players as well as tenders which use the river and dock at the Marina and pump their cargo into the holding tanks on Centre Park Road.

I only mean to be slightly rude when I say this, so apologies, but what kind of inane question is that?

Plus, I only said that it was a local rumour!

Every time I buy petrol using the motorcard, I work out the saving every time. Sometimes it's 25c, sometimes it's a €1. Don't fully understand why I care so much.

Does anyone know if Halfords verify the policy no. before applying the discount? ;)

Diesel is 110.9/l in "the place on the Model Farm Road sells "watered" petrol." Bloody hell, they used to say that about Amber near tinkers cross in Mayfield also, dont go there its under new "rip off ownership" now
Never believed the crap about watered petrol either

Checking www.pumps.ie before you buy beats any fuel card IMO. :)

Please don't post your phone number on Boards again. This is for your own protection as much as anything, the last thing you want is some pest ringing you at 4am every morning. Any replies to your query will be posted on this thread.
