Blood types?

    Long story short a mate of mine got hit by a car in Germany there last year and died shortly later of his injuries.

    Thinking about getting a tattoo (I have no other tattoos) with my blood type, but just wondering;

    If I was losing a lot of blood would this make much of a difference in the amount of time it would take to get a transfusion?

    Would the ABO system be recognized internationally? In other words if I get something that says "Blood Type A" would a Chinese doctor recognize it? Are there international signs for blood types?

    If you're losing lots of blood they'll just give you O neg (universal donor) or a manufactured blood product. I don't think a tattoo would make any difference, they would check for themselves anyway.

    or wear a medical braclet ?

    on the subject of Germany in the past the SS used to get their blood groups tatooed , not sure what associations that would have nowadays.
