Cheap trick to help see your LCD in bright sunlight

Thought I'd share this cheap trick I've come up with to help me see my Camera's LCD screen in bright sunlight. There are products available for this but they tend to be expensive and some are quite flimsy.

Get yourself a slide viewer, I got mine in Slattery's Camera Circle on O'Connell St. for less than 6 Euro. Go for a dark colour (I had a choice of Yellow, Red or Blue) to cut out as much light as possible. This is what they look like:

Now cut off the translucent front with a sharp knife, make sure you smooth down the cut so you don't scratch your LCD Screen. (Safety Notice!: don't cut your fingers :) - thought the mods would like that!)

Voila! Now you have a very effective Screen Viewer as shown below on my P&S Sony S85:

Nice tip. I hate looking through the wee viewfinder cos it smudges me glasses.

would the inside of a toilet roll not be extremely cheaper yet equally effective??
