Irish Squad for the World Cup

    The Irish squad was selected last night, but hasn't yet been announced. It is due to be announced at some stage this afternoon.

    Just wanted to get a thread started for discussion of the squad, because there is bound to be a lot of controversy...

    I think Jason Molins will be selected as will Kevin O'Brien and Boyd Rankin, but I think Kenny Carroll is going to miss out and will have to contend with a stand by position.

    I don't think Jason Molins will make the final fifteen, although I think he'll be an alternate. I also reckon Kenny Carroll will make it into the squad.

    I';d be surprised if Kevin O'Brien doesn't make the squad also.

    There is very little chance of Dom even getting a place on the reserve list.

    I think Dom has been harshly treated, but if you look at his recent record its not very good.

    Kenny Carroll had his chance a couple of weeks ago and got nothing against Italy and Denmark. He did scrore 90 against the MCC, but they were a team of has beens. Kenny has been exceptional in domestic cricket this year, but there is a big difference between Leinster League Section B and International Cricket.

    Major talking points: Molins in the reserves, but to me the big shock is that Dom Joyce hasn't even made the reserves. This is a big fall and must be a kick in the teeth for him. A pity, as I like his play.
