    Hey,
there was a cartoon that use to be on late 80's early 90's
I think on saturday mornigs.. possibly on sky1 or super channel:confused:

similar to power rangers and voltron in that 3 kids operated their
own vehicles and they could combine these to form a giant robot
that they would fight against other robots and monsters?

any help or info would be great as i would be looking to get this
    on dvd or vhs... :)

    thanks for those suggestions
and its not space sentinels or big bad beetleborgs

    from what i remember
it was 3 kids / adults and they lived
in a space station type place

and when they were fighting the enemy/monsters/robots

they would play different music, like michael jackson's "beat it"
and pat benatar's "hit me with your best shot"

so it must have been late 80's
it could have been on "The Childrens Channel"

and it was definetely a japanese styled animation

Long shot but it wasn't Ulysses 31 was it? I think they had some kind of vehicles that used to link up but I don't know if it transformed into a robot.

They used to fly around in a massive ring-shaped spaceship with a kind of eye at the middle of it

That had 2 kids, a tiny robot and the Dad. It wasn't exactly abundant with people either - regulars I mean.

    nope, definitely wasn't usysses 31

from what i do remember the 3 teenagers flew out from this flying space station / platform in 3 different vehicles and they transformed and combined together to form this giant robot.

Your descriptions remind me of Jayce and the wheeled warriors, but i dont think its what your looking for. (Could their cars combine?)

    could it be this?

    http://www.retrojunk.com/details_tvshows/478-saber-rider/

it is an animated show your looking for right?

What style of animation is it in?

Were they flying planes? Each one was a different colour, and depending on which way they combined (i.e. which one was the head") that would determine the main power of the robot.
    Strong, fast, firepower, etc.

Tht's all I can remember though. I'm having a serious nostalgia trip over here!
