Few Queries bout India

Hi headin off to India in a couple of weeks. Was planning to just bring a small backpack, like school bag size instead of an oversized rucksack. Just to avoid the hassle of checking it in and waiting for it in arrivals etc. now with what happened in Heathrow I don't know if I can.

Flying with British Airways, Dublin-London, Heathrow-Delhi. Are there still restrictions with carry on luggage?

Finally, a few months back someone was posting about india, I think the user name was Taz. Does anyone know how I can find that post? I've tried googling with no joy. Don't want to subscribe cause I won't be on here much when I get on the road.

    Cheers

Thanks for the replies guys, I'm so busy trying to get myself sorted I haven't been online since.

Well it looks like we're gonna have to check in our luggage as all you're allowed bring on BA flights are your tickets and pasport..feck them anyway!

We fly into Delhi, will head to Agra for a night then we had planned to head north to Amristar, McLeod Gange and Leh but I think thats a bit too close to hostile territory so I think we're gonna go East toward Lucknow and Varanasi then on to Kulcatta and maybe up to Darjelling and/or a day trip to Butan. We want to go to Kerla and Goa, would like to see some inland towns too, maybe Hampi, we fly out of Mumbai so will get to see a bit of Bollywood there. Oh yeah want to go to Jaipur, Jasilmer and Udipur before heading to Varanasi so that would probably be at the begining of the trip.

Sorry about the spelling of the towns n all but I don't have the book infront of me so I'm just spelling them as close to what I can remember.

Check out www.indiamike.com or www.theindiatree.com I think they're really helpful. But to be honest I think your mad to go for just 2 weeks. What are you going to do? What if you get sick, which is pretty much a given when in India, it'll knock you for six and make for a miserable holiday.

I'm so nervous going and reckon it will take me at least 3 weeks to climatize. I've decided that it could be a horrible time but that I'm going to give myself 3weeks and if I absolutely can't stand the place then I'll just leave. You can't do that if your just on a 2 week holiday.

Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I think that in two short weeks you'll get there and freak out over the filth and the beggars and the filth and the hassle and sh!t everywhere and people everywhere and the filth and you'll be so freaked out you'll just stay in your room (which is proably what me and my boyfriend will do for the first 4 days or so, but thats okay cause we're going for three months) and then when you decide to venture outside to the madness you try some food and spend 3 days in the loo with what you think is dysentry but is just a dose of Delhi belly/Bombay bottom. So now your a week there and you haven't even seen the Taj Mahal!

I would sugest you either go for longer so you're at least used to the place when your ready for the sight seeing, or go somewhere else for two weeks. Thats just my 2cents but like I said, different strokes for different folks.

Oh and I've spent €150.00 on vacinations, €50.00 twice to see the doctor and I haven't bought anti malarials yet but I'd say they'll be in or around €100.00. Thats €350.00 on medical crap...alot if your only spending 2 weeks there.
