Hallo! Welcome to the 1990's!! I have a win 98 machine, I'm trying my darndest to install a hp colorado T3000 on it so that I can retrieve some fairly important data from a tape. I have it sitting on the cable which I removed from the floppy drive. I've installed colorado backup II software. The PC does not pick up the hardware. Any ideas? This is driving me nuts. I haven't a baldies what I'm doing here :)

    Thanks!

Did drivers come with the device? Try here and see if it makes any sense.

Have you got the ribbon cable connected the right way round?

Ruu.. I'd come across that earlier, but I don't have any of the original cds, and the cbII software I downloaded doesn't have the same path to follow. I went to disk 1 and installed the exe, alright, best I could do in the circumstances!!

irlrobins, I actually powered off the machine to check, because that is the kind of mistake I would make, but it will only go on one way!

A little more info: the cbII software says no devices found. In device manager, I have two little yellow exclamation jobbies.. One in Other Devices, where I have an Unknown Device with no drivers installed (I can only assume this is the colorado unit, even though I've installed what I thought were its drivers), and in SCSI controllers, my shuttle epat external ATAPI adapter is either missing, not working properly or has the wrong driver installed.

I say find the drivers for the unit and install them first. Don't worry about the CB software until the hardware is setup. A google should locate drivers download for you.
