What badges are on the Audi A3 1.6 FSI and Golf V 1.6 FSI - 1.6 or 1.6 FSI ?
    Interested in both cars ..

If it just says 1.6 it's the old engine, 8 valve and very underpowered.

FSI is the new engine, better on fuel, more responsive and a few more bhp.

Chances are, if it doesn't have FSI on the back and just 1.6 then it's the older lump. Best bet is to check the sticker in the spare tyre area for the kilowatt output.

Don't rely on the badges on the boot. My A3 1.6 FSI came with just "1.6" on the back. Whereas FSI golfs do seem to use the FSI badge alright.

Only way to tell for sure is the 6-speed gearbox, and "FSI" badge on the engine cover.

    cheers for the info..
Seen a few 1.6 FSI marked Golfs around and a 2.0 FSI marked A3 .. Would be nice to get the FSI on the badge for the 1.6 FSI A3..
Perhaps it can be requested when ordering

I think Audi stopped using the FSI badges last year for some reason. But VW do continue to use them for sure.
You could always get the badge in the parts dept anyway and stick it on yourself...!

I'd be more inclined to take the whole badge off. I had a 2.0 TDI A3 and removed the lot.

While i agree the standard 1.6 is a relatively poor engine the FSI is nearly €2K more! So you gotta decide whether that €2K is worth it to you. The FSI has also a diesel like rattle....

If you want to make sure for certain, look on the top of the timing cover, the exact engine name or code (normally its a code) is printed there.

I don't think I've ever seen an Audi use the FSI badge on their cars, while VW still seem to use it.
