Second hand tools can be an amazing asset, particuluarly within some liniaged traditions. It is not such a good idea in certain instances tho.
Equally outside of liniaged traditions it can be a great thing or not such a great thing to have second hand or antique items as tools.

In both cases it is not a good idea if you are unsure as to how the item was used, by whom and that you are comfortable with all that that would carry. If it is an antique or brick a brack you buy, be sure that you are able to fully cleanse it thoroughly and completley. Before you do cleanse a second hand tool and most definatley before you consecrate it, its often nice to explore the past of the item (in the psychometry sort of way) meditate with it, look at it, have it about where you see it often and think about it... You can often get lovley stories from such things and interestingly you may often have more of a connection to the thing than you might think.
