Right so, I'm fairly sure I'm gonna order my dream guitar offa Thomann, a Gretsch 6120-60.

Only thing is there are a few things I'm worried about.

1.There's nowhere in this bloody country to try a new one out before I buy one. What are the chances they'll send me some duff factory runt?

    2. Would it be set up by Thomann or is that something I should factor into my own costs?

    3. What are the chances of it getting damaged in transit?

    4. Is there anything else I should worry about besides my bank account?

Also, is there anywhere that might have one s/h?

Chris has a few Gretsch guitars at the moment. Not the exact one you're looking for but you might find something you like better and at a better price. He's great to deal with. Just got a guitar delivered from him yesterday

    www.chrisguitars.com

Thomann is fine to deal with as well. You'll not get a duff factory runt and if you do you can return it. It will have the factory set up. Hit or miss with this one as I'm not familiar with Gretsch setups. There is a slight chance it will get damaged in transit but I wouldnt worry about it as you're covered if it arrives damaged. I've had a piano delivered from Thomann without a scratch. Nothing to worry about really, they're a good company to deal with but I found they can be a little slow to email you back

Everyone I have had reasonable dealings with Thomann.

Yeah, I've never had or heard of any problems with Thomann that weren't resolved. I don't know any retailer, online or otherwise, that doesn't occasionally run into some kind of screw-up.

Do you think it would sound good playing Nevermore or Morbid Angel with one?

Fecker, was going to ring you to split delivery - I'm getting a CD Deck and some recording stuff in the next day or two. What are the danelectro pedals as a matter of interest?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,896 ✭✭✭fish-head

    STILL NO EMAIL!

Angry angry fish-head. They're expecting the Gretsch in on November 14th!
Two whole bloody months away! I'm either gonna find an alternative or just wait.. Currently searching high and low but alot of people are out of stock of them.

Yeah. I got a guitar from chris just recently and he's a top bloke to deal with. It will arrive with a better setup than if you got it from thomann and you'll prob save quite a bit as the conversion rates are decent enough at the moment
