Question on speed camera

    Howdy,
Just a quick (and probably dumb) question.

Driving into work this morning, I passed the speed camera on the N4/Lucan road inbound just at that big hotel there. As always, I was travelling at about 60 kmph as that is usually the average speed there at about 8am (limit is 80kmph). As I was pootling along, a silver Mondeo wellied past me in the bus lane doing about 100 -120kmph. The camera flashed just as he passed by me.

I know there are none of the speed camera paint marks on the buslane there, only on the two traffic lanes, so will they know that it was his car that set the camera off, or is there any possibility that I could get the rap for this? There was no cars in the overtaking lane, just me in the driving lane and this dude in ths bus lane.
    cheers.

    I think you'll be alright.
The flashes are him crossing both sets of lines - whether he's actually on the lines or not. Your car will not have crossed in the second shot - therefore no ticket.
that camera is notorious for flashing, but not issuing tickets anyway.
    Worry not.

    Probably an unmarked Garda car.

I thought the marks on the road are just for configuring/calibrating the camera

The lines are there in case the offence is appealed. The gardai know the time interval between the two flashes/photos and can calculate the distance covered and therefore the drivers speed

Thanks for clarifying that for me.
