Browser Hijacker Removal

    I was unlucky enough to fall victim to a browser hijacker recently on my laptop.
    Its still there but i deleted internet explorer and installed firefox as my browser.

    Does anyone have any idea how I can get rid of it.

    Also, I have spybot search & destroy installed, will this protect my firefox browser against it happening again

    Download Windows Defender and Ad-aware to add to Spybot, also get a firewall if you haven't gotten one already, no harm. Are you running Windows XP?

    edit: Ewido is quite good at removing any sort of spyware/malware issues, so a combination of a few of them won't do any harm to your system.

    Hi. What site does this hijacker bring your browser to? Have you got a name from it. There are many hijackers around. Gimme a name and i'll see what i can do.................

    I just found out that the hijacker i have is called COOLWEBSEARCH.

    i was on a site called spywareinfo.com that said i should download a program called COOLWEBSHREDDER, thats available from intermute.com/products/cwshredder

    what i amasking is should i download this to remove the hijacker,
    is spywareinfo.com a site that can be trusted

    Just download any of the ones I listed and they should remove it, if one of them doesn't the other will.
