If you are on a permanent contract(HSE) what are your entitlements in relation to study leave or a leave of absence?

You have no entitlements as such. It is entirely at the discretion of your appropriate manager. They may decide that "service needs" will take priority but you'll never know unless you apply. (You could approach one 'off the record' to ascertain your chance of getting it). If you have been funded to undertake an academic course, you have a good chance of getting study leave but again "service needs" will take priority.

Assuming leave of absence is granted for educational purposes tpically how long can you take. I know it employers discretion but it is the HSE so someone must know.
