Fox jumps to 1st win of new TV season

NEW YORK -- Fox Broadcasting Co. got a jump start on the 2006-07 season Monday with the return of "Prison Break" and debut of new thriller "Vanished." "Prison Break" opened its sophomore session with respectable, if not remarkable, ratings for the series as it picked up where last May's cliffhanger left off and the manhunt for the main characters began, driving Fox to the nightly win in both key measures. "Break" finished out with 9.3 million viewers and 3.7 rating/12 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. That was down in the demo from its two-hour premiere last year (10.5 million, 4.6/12), which came a week later on Aug. 29, 2005. Monday's turnout was likely dampened by summer-light viewing levels all around in primetime, though "Break" did tie its highest adults 18-49 demo share mark of its first season. (Paul J. Gough)

I don't like Fox's shady news reporting, but god damnit the station does know how to make entertaining primetime shows. Vanished is looking good this year.
