I have an idea of starting a one off band to play a gig around Christmas time. It's for a fundraiser so it won't be a paid gig. The plan is to fill a 40 min or so set with good covers but not typical pub crap. Something inventive. Interested? I'll go into more detail at a later point as this is not 100% happening. I know it's vague but I've given enough clues as to what it is :)

I myself am a guitarist and I know a good drummer. So how about it Bassists, Guitarists, singers, backing singers, harmonicas, trumpets, sax, keys, percussionists?!

I'm interested. Stick my name in the hat/pot. Female vocalist with very rusty clarinet skills.

Another idea is the people at this event will come up and sing some maybe. However it turns out ;>

Well, I'm up for a challenge, put me down for bass. Will we be rehearsing in Dublin city centre?

I suppose seeing as it's up to all of us.

Anyone have any requests for it. I'll think of something cool to do myself.

what would the setlist involve or would it just be a melting pot of stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,989 ✭✭✭✭Giblet

Stuff that would appeal to a wide audience, probably be a bit technical in it's execution (I do love a challenge) or just fun really. I just came up with the idea today

will many punters show for a 40 min set? why not get a few bands and maybe even a DJ or something for afters. more bands means more people to drag along and if its for a good cause..........

just a suggestion don't wanna hijack your idea! if your interested though i could get a band in on this. i'd offer bass services but looks like you've been offered enough of that.

This is only a small part of a larger event.

oh right fair enough, best of luck with it. its a very good idea, you should open a thread for cover suggestions!

Pfft, we can cover Frances the Mute by The Mars Volta in its entirety.

If we are doing karaoke, we'd have to see what people would be willing to sing off the cuff. If not, we can probably play a lot of hard stuff.

Anyway, We have 4 months ;>

I play a bit of guitar, bass and sing too (master of none!) so I'd be interested in giving a dig out if it's for a good cause.

    Whats the Charity?
Oh yeah, are we talking Dublin?

Ok. This is going to be a live band karaoke event. So we just need musicians (although back up singers might be useful or someone to take over the lead vocals if no-one is putting themselves forward).

We have a drummer, guitarist (probably 2) and a bassplayer. We need keyboard players if the songs suits them and whatever else my be useful.

I'm afraid I won't be able to do play bass as I'll be too busy ;), but there is 2 others that want to on this thread. I probably have a keyboard player for you though Giblet.
