I was wondering if anyone would recommend this monitor for my room which Im redesigning in the next month or so. Im not going to use these speakers as I am going to buy different ones as stereo speakers are normally as useful as a sh1te flavoured ice pop. Would I be able to use my XB 360 with it?? I heard monitors are all HD and so instead of buying a tv Im going to use this monitor as my tv.

If theres a better monitor at this price range please direct me to it. Thanks for your help!

At least make sure it has a DVI connection: http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=324159 you can then plug the Xbox and PC into it. You won't be able to watch TV without some sort of tuner for your PC however. A cable box may be able to plug into:

    1 x component video input
    1 x composite video input

If your going to be using an Xbox 360 with it & as a TV, I'd go for a wide screen display, Samsung have a nice one for not much more than the Acer model you picked (edit: dont know how I missed that but the Acer is a widescreen in the picture it looked like a 4:3 to me).

    Samsung 20" LCD Syncmaster 205BW €375

You can use DVI for the PC and the VGA connection for the Xbox 360*

    * The Xbox 360 only outputs HD over component or VGA so you'll need to pick up the official VGA cable as well.

Of course you still run into the problem astrofool mentioned above with the lack of inputs, what you could do is use a VGA switcher and have the TV inputted via this Avermedia device which has composite/component/s-video inputs over VGA along with the Xbox 360 on a VGA switch like this (a cheaper Belkin one their as well though reviews don't seem to favourable but it does have a manual switch unlike the one I linked to).

Alternatively do away with the switch and have the Xbox 360 plug into the component input on the Avermedia TV/VGA box o' tricks and get to it that way however the image quality may not be at it's 'very best' but I don't think it would be affected to the point you would really notice it unless you have you're nose to the screen.

Of course after all those extras you may approach the cost of a HDTV display with the necessary inputs for TV/PC usage anyway.

If your gonna stick with the cheaper 4:3 display you can get that Avermedia TV/VGA device without widescreen support for a cheaper price as well.

As it happens I actually bought a WinTV PCI thingy earlier this year, I could connect the XB and PC onto the monitor and the tv into the pc which could output onto the monitor through the pc connection (woah my head hurts). This would work right?

Viewsonic VX2025wm, I got mine the other day... Its amazing, I was worried about ghosting and dead pixels and all the other LCD related problems but its perfect..

Widescreen gaming is amazing too, you have a much wider field of view and most new games support it.. I have tried with all Source games and UT2004 and they support widescreen natively.

You can get the VX2025wm from Overclockers.co.uk and pixmania.co.uk

    Its around €400

Yes that will work, do you have Windows XP Media Center Edition if not you can use alternatives like these, the WinTV are line are very well supported so don't worry about compatibility.
