PC fails to recognise DVD Drive

The computer very rarely recognizes my Plextor DVD drive. The lights flash etc but the computer does not allow any access to it. The dvd drive has the drivers on it so it should see them

What types of media have you tried in it? Might try a lens cleaner.

What OS are you using? I have an internal DVD burner that works perfectly with XP but then seizes up when W2K is installed. Has it always been like that or is it a recent thing? Anything changed recently? Maybe it could do with a firmware update?
