    Hello everyone,

I have just finished the leaving and want to do law. However,I missed out on straight law by a few points, but I am more than 100 over what I need for a BA. What should I do?

    A) repeat and get the BCL

    B) Take the BA,then do 1 year of the law degree(4 years, then blackhall)

Please help me. I am uncertain of what to do. Advice is very welcome.

    Thanks,
    John

    Do the BA.

Have just come through it myself and done the one year llb and its practically the same as doing any other law degree. On top of that you get the option of doing another subject you could be really into to a degree level, which is also an excellent fallback if you wake up one morning realising you hate law.
There's also the fact that Arts is just the best craic in first year!

The one thing you have to look out for is that i believe they've reintroduced the quota system to enter 2nd year legal science, but a bit of hard work and you'll easily make it.

Hope that helps, anything else just ask

Do the BA. It means absolutely nothing afterward. All that's needed is a general law degree to get in to Blackhall place. And you'll have much better craic with the less stressful timetable. And you won't be a law head. And you'll have an extra year in college.

How about Griffith college or the BA.
I have been accepted by Griffith for a three year llb course,at the end of which I will be fully prepared for Blackhall.
And better still, the llb is three years long, the BA is four.

This might not be relevent but can't you do Law after you have completed any degree?

Yes,but the problem is that you are not prepared enough for Blackhall, which is very competitive, and for future employment,to have an llb gives a good impression.

well you've answered your own question then if you want to repeat. I got offered my commerce and spanish course by miles in UCC and decided that I don't actually want it so I'm repeating and going for Mary I teaching next year instead, it's only another year!
