Is Nikon a good reliable brand for a digital camera?

Secondly, would you buy a refurbished camera? Looking on ebay, found a nice Nikon CoolPix 7900 which looks good, but its refurbished, alas comes with warranty. What do you think??

Nikon is a very reliable marque. But at the end of the day I would never consider buying a refurbished anything from eBay, unless it was from a dedicated online eBay shop, at least you have some kind of comeback. If you are buying from an Irish or English private seller you may be better off checking one of the links in the sticky above and buying new from Hong Kong.

    Question 1: Yes
    Question 2: Depends!

Never bought a refurbished camera, but have bought a refurbished sound card (Audigy, still working perfectly), a refurbished GFX card (was broken and went straight back, eventually got refund) and a refurbished PDA (worked after a fashion, but touch screen forever needed recalibrating, never was right). So I guess you pays your money and you take your chances. Problem is posting the darn thing back if anything goes wrong.

Agree totally with the above , Nikon = great cameras but I know myself the kind of abuse that cameras get , so refurbished cameras , no way !!
