Nope, all of that will be supplied in the apartment. I am not sure whether Plassey supplies duvets or not, the other villages do, but tbh bring your own anyway!!

Everything else will be in the house. Best of luck and welcome to UL!!!

Hope to see you at the boards

Cant help you there Im afraid. I head down the other end of the country. But id imagine the cheapest way is by bus. There are bound to be a load of private bus services heading that way each week, Im sure someone here can fill you in

Welcome to UL and boards......ah Plassey supply stuff like kettles etc. You'll probably have to bring your own bed clothes and stuff even though I think they do provide duvets. You could get the train to Dublin/Meath if you the the Irish Rail student travel card it cuts the price of a train ticket quite a bit. I'm not sure if they do monthly deals for students but it might be worth checking out. And as always there's the bus.

    Cheers

Sorry doogle deegan but i need to use your thread to ask a question. Anyway i was just wondering whats the best place for accomodation around UL be it on campus or off, well maybe on campus would be better because i don't know anyone goin to UL unless my friends get his first choice in round two. I know i should have sorted this out ages ago but i never got around to it because i was never quite sure where i would end up. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

If you want on campus you should do it soon. There will probably be rooms left in Thomond and the new Cappavilla village. Check the sticky on the top of the forum regarding other accomadation.

Just what Brendygg said sticky here on acc http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=299781 I would reckon at this stage that most of the villages are full, but there might be some spaces in the new ones, further away though. As for off campus, depends on what you want, luxury or proximity etc. Tbh first years IMO opinion are better off in villages, you get to know people in your house, your class and then by second year you have friends you want to move in with... thats my advice anyway!

I lived in Plassey for 5 years, deadly place.

The only thing they don't supply is contraceptives ;)

Is that groundsman still there? Pat wasn't it? He was one cool guy.

As far as I know you're not prevented from starting your own.

As 440Hz said, have a look at the stickies for info and if you're actually looking for "the best" regardless of cost you're probably best with one of the newer student on-campus villages, though the odds are very high they're mostly booked out by now.

    Too lazy :p

Anyway thanks for the replies. I contacted the accommodation services and there are places left in Cappavilla village and Thomond village. Thomond seems to be better for first years but its hard to tell from the site because Cappavilla is new.

Plassey rocks, lived there for 5 years myself :)

I'm not sure about the duvets, think you have to rent them out if you don't bring your own. That should all be included in the letter that you get from Plassey telling you when to come down and what the office hours are.

I think I heard that Pat retired. He was a legend, went in to see him before I left.

Plassey give you duvets but no pillows. Halfway through last year we were all made swap our duvets for lovely new clean ones.

Whereabouts in the Royal are you coming from? Get the bus, return to dublin from Limerick is €15, if you're near Drogheda the return journey to Dublin is €8ish. Buy the tickets separetely, its cheaper that way

Plassey was cool. Stayed there for 3 years myself. Gráinne's the village manager, she's dead sound! Got to know her pretty well.

I'd recommend anyone stay there. I had a blast. I finished college last this year, but I'm back to UL again for a postgrad, but I'm staying in Currigh Brín this time. I hope its as good......

I am in Athboy. If i could find a private bus to mullingar it would be great. If not i will just get bus Eirinn to Dublin and another bus to Trim/Athboy.

AFAIK all the broadband in the student villages are heavily locked down. Not many ports open, They cracked down on sharing folders of warez, porn, music etc fairly heavily a few years ago I think.

But then I've never lived in any of them so all of this is through the grapevine so to speak.

/me looks lovingly at 3mb metro broadband!

Ah yeah it is I think, all access passes through ITD in the college and they have to comply with HEAnet's AUP so it is pretty locked down.

    Cheers
