Leasing performance cars

Im currently looking to lease a performance car and Im wondering what places in Ireland offer such a service.

I tend to go off cars quite quickly (annually) so instead of taking a huge hit on depreciation each year I am looking into leasing a performance car.

Does anyone know places that lease used performance cars?

Leasing a used E46 M3 or 996 Porsche 911 would be along the lines of what Im looking for, does such a service exist in this country?

Any lease quote will factor in depreciation over the lease period, so I can't see it as being any cheaper than buying and reselling the car. If I were in your position, I'd be considering finding a car at a good price in the UK, driving it here for a year, and then selling it.

But leasing costs factor in any depreciation over the lease period, since they have to sell the car on at the end of that lease period, so you're not really winning in that respect, merely spreading the depreciation (plus the other costs) over several monthly payments.

I'd have to agree with Anan1 & Alun. The residual values on most performance cars is quite poor and this will be reflected in your monthly premiums. If your entitled to a leased company car then it might be better to take an allowance (if you have the option) and import from the UK as suggested above.

EDIT : Most leasing companies in Ireland have no interest in leasing used cars unless they are relatively new - less than 6 months typically.

A guy I know buys 2nd hand performance cars in the UK, takes them over here and re-regs. them. Then he gets fed up with them after six months and sells them at a profit because they are rare.

it's hard to sell performance cars, pic a few on carzone and monior them daily, they can be there with a dealer for months, then end up in another garage... for months again!

If you change regularly, buying wouldn't be a great option for you.

My point exactly mate, I don’t have 6 months of the year to be trying to sell on such a car.

I know you can pick up a 996 in the UK for £25K but the VRT is something like €20K way too expensive. Id rather spend 20K leasing a 997 for a yr or two.

I guess the only way around it is to drive one on plates at the weekends, its prob the only time ill have to take it out anyhow so it prob makes sense.

Sell it on in the UK after 6 months/yr where there is an actual market for such cars.
