Just got a new case, and hdd delivered. Rest of pc parts in another house, but was wondering if it would be ok to install the hdd in th case anyway, and bring around to other house later in the week to finish the build? or would static be an issue if I left the hard drive installed in the case...

shouldn't make much of a difference to be honest.

Is there a real need to install it now? Just wait until you have all you need - unless there's an advantage to you to install it now.

Depends on how your case is laid out, it's generally easier to put in the motherboard before you put in the HDDs. Then again the worst that should happen is that you have to spend 5 seconds taking it back out again.

Does your case have a removable hd cage, mine does. Just pop them in. they'll be nice & safe in there than lying round the house.

I'd say leave it out of the case or put it in the cage outside the case - it'll be a lot easier to knock over a light empty case (esp. if there's no PSU in it yet) than just the hard disk on its own, and if you knock down a tower it's quite possible the hard disk will be banjaxed.

and if you knock down a tower it's quite possible the hard disk will be banjaxed.

Doubtful, the case is back in the box it came in, and the hard drive is secured via screws to one of the removable drive trays.

I was saying if you were putting it in the case as you implied in your OP.
