    Wait and see what the "investigation" says? Might be a misunderstanding or he might have used a hijacked paypal account possibly? Either way not much you can do really except contact paypal and ask for advice.

    The same thing happened me at the weekend ,some guy had his ebay account taken over and the scammer used his account to buy numerous items including something of me ,luckily I hadn't posted the item before I got the mail from paypal .
    I don't know how it will work out when you have the item already posted .

    How long does the "investigations" take.
    Err... maybe a bit longer than would be expected.
    I don't doubt there's some legit investigations.
    Bear this in mind though:

    sorry to hear this Op
    investigation can take ages ( i know from past experience)
    and if the money is found to be illegitimate you ll probably just lose them
    and paypal will do nothing about the fact that the item has bein already posted.
