    Hey all,

Just lookin for some suggestions as to running a home game for a few mates from work. Most of the people coming have heard me going on and on about playin in casinos etc, and have seen it on tv and wanna have a game. There mostly inexperienced, with only one other person i can think ok playin regularly.

I just wanted to get some feedback about what sort of blind levels to do, how long to allow for rebuys etc. Im sure some of you have plenty of experience of home games, so any suggestions are welcome. Do you think its better to have smaller stacks with slower blinds, or deeper stacks with quick blinds?

Anyway, title says it best. Suggestions please...

Starting with 2000k chips and blinds at 25/50 with unlimited rebuys for the same cost as initial buyin untill a predetermined time worked well for us until we started playing cash games and half the players went broke.

We had blinds increase every 40 mins usually in this order.
    25 50
    50 100
    75 150
    100 200
    150 300
    200 400
    300 600
    400 800
    500 1000
    600 1200
    800 1600
    1000 2000
    etc

having tried various home games, the only one that is any good is a dealer's choice pot limit cash game game with no cap and a Mississippi straddle.

stt's are rubbish for home games imo. Its **** boring when you get knocked. NL cash game with an agreed buy-in and blinds. I've been playing 20c/20c with an initial 20e buyin lately. Only holdem unfortunatly..

    To quote Daniel Negreanu:

"A Mississippi straddle can be made from any position, and it buys last action before the flop. If, for example (in a game with $10-$25 blinds), the button puts a live $50 on it, the next player to act would be the small blind, followed by the big blind, and so on. If it gets back to the button with no raise, the button has the option of raising.

If the button straddles, the player next to the button has the option of re-straddling by putting in $100, earning him last action. That forces the dealer to act on his $50 bet first, then the small blind, the big blind, and so on. There is no limit on the number of straddles, so in a little $10-$25 pot-limit game, you could see as much as $500 in the pot before any cards are dealt!

Then, there is Mississippi stud. This, too, is played pot-limit. Everyone gets three cards, as you normally would in stud, and you can bet up to the amount in the pot at any time. Once the betting is complete, the dealer gives each remaining player two upcards. There’s more betting, and then the rest of the hand plays out normally."
