stair nosing

    Hi,

Hopefully someone can help me on this. Recently we got hardwood floor installed in a room. We have a small landing that we would also like to cover with the same flooring.

The contractor who laid the floor, recommended against bringing it out onto the landing and to the top of the stairs because there would be no proper nosing piece to hold the planks in place. The way the floor is laid, the planks woud be perpendicular to the tread of the stairs.

Does anyone know where I can get some Oak stair nosing that will fit around an existing bull nose stair tread. It is a bog standard pine stair tread.

How is such a piece of stair nosing held in place securely? Is it normal to nail the nosing piece or would it be sufficient to glue it in place with a very strong adhesive?

    Any help would be welcome.

    Thanks
