Lehman is announcing his 2 picks at a press conference due at 3pm Irish time. Who do you think he will pick?

Given that 4 rookies made the team (JJ Henry, Zach Johnson, Brett Wetterich and Vaughn Taylor) I think he will go for 2 experienced campaigners.

I think it will be Stewart Cink and Davis Love III.

This is the 1st time in Ryder Cup history that Europe will have a stronger team on paper (Europe have 7 players in the World's top 20 compared to USA's 6). Can't wait for the K Club.................

He went for Stewart Cink and Scott Verplank.

I think he's crazy to not take Davis Love... Good, seasoned pros that they are - no one is going to be in the least bit intimidated by Cink or Verplank... Love, on the other had, carriea a bit of clout...

I think we'll win and win well...

    Verplank was defo a shock.

Does anyone know when Woosie is picking his wildcards???

Think Woosie picks his wildcards on Monday 4th Sep, after that weekend's tournament, the BMW International Open in Munich.

Expect them to be Clarke & Westwood, assuming McGinley qualifies by right.

I agree Clarke and Westwood would be at the top of the list along with Bjorn - and Olazabal if he doesn't qualify. I don't think McGinley will get the pick if he doesn't qualify.

mcginley has the cushion of 1 place since ole dropped back to tenth, they may pick clarke but i doubt he'll play.
i was flabbergasted at lehmans picks, Davis Loveshould have been picked

I agree with him not picking Love to be honest, he's just not consistant enough.

Cink is a good grinder, but I'm not so sure about Verplank..

I'd pick John Daly, Love or Fred Couples (back injury not withstanding) ahead of either of them... You need big names and big personalities in the Ryder Cup... Any one of the European team will fancy themselves in the singles against either Cink or Verplank...

Again, a comprehensive Euro victory is all I can see...

I can't see the Yanks making a real match of it, 4 rookies who proberly had to apply for passports, Woods who is not a team player, a wildly biased home support, the weather(!). Its Europes to loose.

    Europe have the better players.
But I don't think team USA will be that easy to beat.
On form the European players are not that hot at the minute.
Captain's selections for foursomes and fourballs will be vital. While Woosie shouldn't make mistakes here, I think Lehman will be more skilled than Sutton was in the previous outing.
The course will suit the Americans.

I'd still favour an European win, but I wouldn't discount the Americans just yet.

Do you even watch golf? Love has been injured and is still feeling the effects. This was the bet show in a while. He would be a serious detriment to a team that will be going up against a better europe team. The US needs players that are playing good, not experience(IMO). The bad pick was not taking Tim Herron. Tim had been one of the best golfers this year, consistent and a closer. He was penalized in a couple of tournies due to European showings. Cink and Herron should have been the picks.

Are you serious Clarke? Not in the condition he is in. Westwood...come on. With the new rule that was implemented the better choices would be Jesper and Carl Petterson. Both in form. That being said, I expect that Clarke does get chosen and Stenson and Westwood as backup if Clarke doesnt want to play.

Love had a decent showing at the PGA ("Beware the injured golfer" maybe P&P??) and, don't forget, the matches are still the best part of a month away so any injury he supposedly currently has will have time to heal. He should've been a pick...

And what exactly do you think "Lumpy" Herron will bring to the team? I couldn't imagine any of the European players being to intimidated by him... He's no different than Cink, Verplank or 100 other American golfers who make a fortune out of the game without ever having to do anything major...

Clarke is playing in the Madrid Open and is expected to the given a Wildcard... I think this will be a masterstroke by Woosnam...

I dont think the course will suit the americans, infact woosie has had trees moved around and new ones planted in an effort to take the driver out of the americans game!
As was said earlier, its europes to loose.

and any player on a ryder cup team that hasnt really got a lot of confidence put in them by butch harmon is really a good thing from our point of view,

Harmon was incested at the notion of wetterich making the team after his fiasco in the greenside rough at medinah on friday, and basically said he didnt want to see him in the team

even though im going 2 the event im praying for rain and tonnes of the stuff for europe to have a chance..even though the american ryder cup team is probably the worst actual "team"(as in team players) they still dont have to beat alot at the moment ot win this..although i felt the same when i went to the belfry and we produced some heros..so i live in hope!!

So a few things Lumpy will bring...form, He did well this week and he should hav played himself in, but not just not enough, Competitiveness: He is a winner, Team Player: Very much so and a perfect complement to a number of players, and finally he is a personal friend...we went to University together.

    But cest la vie.

In response to the Wettrich spot...what a joke. The guy still could have lost his spot and he pulls that garbage. Hopefully he doesn't get much PT. I hate that. Harmon was right, a disgrace!

I MISSED IT!! What happened, what happened??? And what did Harmon say?

Wetterich basically made a total mess of getting up and down from greenside rough, looked like he wasn't even interested after the first attempt,he just quit trying to get the ball out after his first attempt missed and ended up just fluffing at it, he eventually wasted 4 strokes, on that one shot. and he was only on the ninth hole, butch thought it was disgusting to see someone quit at such an early stage and said he better not bring that attitude to the K club

Love is currently making a mockery of Lehmann's ommision of him at Firestone. Playing some lovely golf... Woods just flew the green from 160+ with a 9iron out of the rough by about 40yds out of bounds! Phenomenal.

Just for sake of rough comparison here the current Europe 10
    1 Colin MONTGOMERIE
    2,434,316.11
    2 David HOWELL
    2,284,846.02
    3 Sergio GARCIA
    1,911,271.35
    4 Robert KARLSSON
    1,902,799.25
    5 Henrik STENSON
    1,873,034.95
    6 Paul CASEY
    1,721,833.85
    7 Padraig HARRINGTON
    1,514,027.44
    8 Paul MCGINLEY
    1,473,112.24
    9 José Maria OLAZÁBAL----1,392,923.22
    10 Luke DONALD
    1,387,770.28

If that was the final list I'd add Clarke and Thomas Bjorn or Miguel Angel Jimenez who is underrated I think.

    Mike.
