Would love to play it but permit me my obligatory moan about the lack of a freezeout sat for a freezeout event.

I agree. A higher buy in FO sat each week would go down very nicely.

Also any chance of EPT sats happening sometime soon. October isn't that far away. [And Barcelona is a matter of weeks.]

    agreed...

any side events? 200 game, 300 game? Omaha?

Whilst freezeouts seem like a marvellous idea folks they dont work. We have tried them for this I would need to run $50 freezeouts to $500 GF's and in my VAST (he he) experience the buying is just to high. I would if I could.

Anyhoo spot the red bit the FREEROLL is a FREEZEOUT and is a Super-Satellite with a 1,000 point buyin.

As time goes on we will look at combos hopefully some super-sats and variations but we are going to stick with rebuys for kick off.

We are not running sats to the side events at the moment far too much going on. This annoncement is our first press announcement so it just covers the main event later press launches will cover other aspects.

EPT is sponsored by pokerstars this year so no sats :( ITS ALL NOT FAIR AT ALL BLEEDIN SPONSORS :D

Freezeouts do work. Stars have them all the time. You just need to run lots of low buyin satellites into them.

Fantastic news:D This was a brilliant event/weekend this year. All the PaddyP crew were class. Where will it be on next year:confused: Am I right in thinking Jurys is closing?
Hopefully I'll be there, and hopefully I'll better my 21st finish from this year.

    2 things to get in.
1- Completely agree on the Freezeout Satelittes. I will not play a rebuy sat:mad:.
PaddyP ran ran freezeout sats this year, I won my entry in one, so why not this time. The €100 sats were getting 100plus runners if I remember rightly. (At least I think they were freezeouts, if not apologies). As said the PokerStars model gets huge numbers in their EPT sats, and with a 2million garauntee you will get the numbers. This would be bigger than the EPT events. If you build it, they will come:p

2 - The only gripe about about last years event was the payout structure, way too top heavy. 30-36 got 2 grand back. For a 3k buying event this meant you could cash and actually lose money, absolutely ridiculous:mad: . This was brought up lots of people at the time and I hope its resolved for next year.

I too would be far more inclined to play freezeout sats. Or 1 rebuy or top-up sats

payout structure has been changed solely due to feedback from last year. i can assure you minimum payouts for IO'07 (cool, it's 'loot' in l33t 5p34|<!!!) will be full money back and then some.

will publish full payout structure and various other tasty details here soon.

will review satellite interest and maybe even have a boards only freezeout satellite at some stage.

all in all, should be an amazing festival.

Well done guys, its great to see an Irish company take on the best in the world and run such a big event.

I'm sure there will be live qualifiers also and I can understand the guys problem with the rebuy events, but there actually good value and due to the buy-in amount, most people play them like a freeze out. I loved last years online qualifiers which were only 100 instead of 200. But cant keep everyone happy.

Anyway, looking forward to another great weekend of poker.

I think if you add another step into the ladder you can keep everyone happy

$5 rebuy sats into $40 FO Sat into a $400 Freeze Out..... seat then for every 10 in GF

Rebuy sats are fine in my book.

What about the omitted 150/300 level? I assume with two day ones this is to be included, the open was best craic tournament I have played however the pokerevents structure for their €3K game is the model I think should be used,

Fully agree with that.I think it was the 75-150 level that was left out,and then we went from 150-300 to 200-400 with an ante while in most big buy-in tourneys, the 150-300 blind level is repeated with an ante. The Irish open was missing two hours play compared to the other big tourneys and thats too much.

Good to see that qualifying is starting early, should give plenty of opportunity to qualify for plenty of people.

Also, on the subject of rebuy vs freezeout, is there not a chance of offering freezeouts for say €175 where 1 in 20 get a ticket only (no expenses or accom)? I am sure that especially with a lower step qualifier running for say €10-€20 there would be plenty of demand for this. A lot of value in sats is lost by bloating the package to include expenses etc. Having qualifiers with expenses and ones without is surely viable?

I shall play some of these anyways (once my BB gets sorted out) but no harm to suggest.

    Good luck with it anyhow.

It is my hope as we get a little closer to D-Day and the action surrounding the IO heats up that I can introduce a number of higher level satellites into the IO. It is really a case of "as demand dictates". I was also thinking of having a whopping great STT super satellite which could be fun....
    :) stay tuned.

Is this not a contradiction in terms

Variety is good in any case.

Not really, it is all about demand. If I felt there was enough demand for a $650 buyin in tournament I would definitely run it. I think that it is however relatively early days to launch into such a pocket wrenching endevour.
