Firewire connection

This might be a stupid question and all but hey it has to be done. I need to buy a good soundcards and have been recommended a firewire card, now my question is, does my motherboard need a firewire connection or what or can i use usb connections etc

If the sound card you've been recommended connects using Firewire, then you need a firewire port. You can add this on using a PCI card. Can you link to the card you're looking at?

Ok your PC will need to have a 6pin Firewire port. If it doesn't have one then you can add one using a PCI card. Like this one.
