I'm having real problems bidding on items from the states lately because they all require a confirmed address through paypal, which seems to be only available in the US and parts of the UK.

Is there anyway of getting my Paypal address verified and confirmed to prove i'm not trying to scam people?

Afaik your account mailing address has to match your credit card billing address exactly. Some credit cards don't allow such a thing, I had this problem with my Irish CC.

Ok I contacted Paypal and they said its luck of the draw whether your credit confirms your address or not with each transaction, as the've made no agreement with paypal to do so. If I can't confirm my address via paypal is there anything else I can do to verify my address with a seller? Like send them a scan of a bill of address or something?

Ruu, i'm guessing you're in the states, how big of a deal is it to deal with international buyers who don't have confirmed addresses?

To be honest I never really noticed much about having confirmed addresses a few years ago (on a few occasions I did) I would contact the seller and let them know the situation with the CC outside of the US, it was fine 99% of the time. I would assume most of them would be ok with international buyers if they are aware of the verification issues with foreign CCs. These days its everywhere with the amount of fraud on eBay. I guess contacting the seller for each item (although a pain in the backside) and ask for their advice on it. Maybe some other Irish eBayers will be able to help.

Umm...do paypal not do the verification process thing anymore?
I remember when I signed up years back, they had you pay $2.50 which was issued as a charge on your chosen credit card.
When you got the bill the next month, there was a verification code next to the charge, which you then enter on the paypal site. This confirms your postal adress is authentic. The 2.50 is then credited back to your paypal account.

I believe they still have that going (several options to get verified nowadays). I can't remember if the paypal enrollment thing is a seperate issue to that of getting confirmed or not. I was verified with an Irish account but my address went unconfirmed, I had read that some credit card companies just don't have that feature available.

Yeah I had problems with my amex the first time I tried it; no code was incuded on bill....paypal refunded me.
When I put it through on mastercard it went without a hitch.

Nearly all US sellers selling internationally back when I joined wouldn't ship without confirmed address or at least a verified account.

I would also love if they resolved this situation, as up until a few days ago I thought genuinely that my account was address verified even though I have never had any hassle with stuff comming from the states for that reason but I just noticed on an invoice from ebay that my address was stated as unconfirmed which is slightly annoying.
They need to get off they're arses (paypal) and get it sorted, for christ sake they have their European Head Office here, not the bloody UK so why can't we get friggin' confirmed addresses!
