Can't burn files to DVD

    HELP PLEASE; I bought a few DVD+R to back up some files in case my computer went wallop. I managed to burn some files onto one of them using Nero. But when I go to copy from the DVD (to paste back to my hard drive) the computer will not allow this to happen. I suspect it is not even reading the DVD. What’s the problem? My computer is only a year old. A DELL dimension 4600.

    What other sort of media have you tried? Will it play any other sort of discs?

    How are you trying to copy stuff back over?
    Which Nero software did you use? (In-write(whatever it's called), Nero express,etc) & what version?

    It would suggest that it is recognising the DVD as you can access it using explorer.exe ...

    Test a DVD film in the drive.

    Is it just that one particular disc that you are trying to copy the data back to the hard drive thats not working?

    Start -> run -> devmgmt.msc -> expand cd/dvd drives -> right-click on the dvd drive(s) -> Uninstall -> reboot
    (It'll re-install teh drivers)
