Does anyone know much about wood chip/wood pellets ? I need to replace a oil burner and someone mentioned to me that I should check out this new method of heating a house because the wood chippings cost less that the oil.

The SEI (www.sei.ie) seem to offer some grants but does anyone know much much a new wood chip boiler would cost and is it worth it ?

    I got the following information

I think this should point you in the right direction.

I thought there was some sort of caluculator on the SEI website to work out savings than can be made between oil & wood pellet? Can't find the link anywhere...

I was just trying to get an idea as to how many years it would take after installing a wood pellet burner, would you start to get the benefits in cost from it?

I am running a kerosene burner and get 2,000litres/year. Rough cost at todays prices close to €1350. I run the burner at 60kBTU.

Any idea after grants, what the WP burner would set me back and then roughly annual costs of running it?

The thing with pellet burners is that alot of them are two powerfull for domestic use (from my experience anys which is kinda limited).

With rising heating costs it maybe worthwhile looking into it. But then you have to consider the installation cost. I think thats expenseive as well

After a long time sifting through the maze of wood pellet boiler suppliers, I have finally narrowed it down to two boilers.

So my question is if anyone has any experience with the PN23 boiler made by SHT in Austria. Or if anyone has any experience dealing with Grenn Planet Ltd in Dublin?

The amount of cowboys out there is enough to throw anyone of the technology but I think this boiler thicks most of the boxes at a midrange price. I would like to be sure before going ahead
