Ok have Nero 7 premium and finally got around to putting some of my old vcd onto my pc

However when I try to burn them with Nero Vision the transcoding buggers up ??
Only happened recently and I cannot burn them

Is this a bug with this version as I may have an older version somewhere ? googled it and it seems to be the case.....

Is there better software out there where I can create menus similar to Nero ?

Also with Nero it could reduce the size of thefilm so I could fit it onto one dvd is there anything else than can do this ?

    Thanks

Make sure you have the latest version of Nero as whenever they introduce a new version (as was the case with v7) it is always riddled with bugs - you can download from this link. Just paste in your serial key when asked and reboot after the install.

Not sure if ConvertXToDVD supports VCD's* or not but try the demo version & see, it has a very simple automatic DVD menu creation.

*Inside the VCD folder structure you should find a .mpg file just drag & drop that into ConvertXToDVD and that should work.

If you are after more control over the creation of the menus (not just from a stock template) check out Ulead's DVD Movie Factory.

winavi video convertor 7.5 works well, and supports vcd's

cheers will try to see that the update does for Nero

Tried dvd movie factory but had to split the file in 2 to fit on 2 discs. Nero reduced the file automatically so I could put it onto a 4.7gb disk

So I have the movie on dvd but on 2 disc using movie factory

Thats weird it compressed it to the correct DVD-5 (single layer DVD) for me the few times I've used it.

Did not try to burn it as I thought the file was to big as when i added the video file it went into red(6.12) in the task bar

so if I did try and burn would it reduce automatically or say that the disc is too small?

    Thanks

It's been a while since I used it & I had v4 not the current v5 on top of which I don't have it currently installed though I must check out the v5 demo.

I think it was you altered the bit rate for the video in Movie Factory that would lower the projects file size down to something below the 4.7GB (4464MB) limit for a single layer write able DVD, it doesn't just do it automatically like some other programs. Also Movie Factory sometimes wasn't the best at hitting that target it may under or over size the end resulting file so aim a bit below that max limit to be on the safe side.
