Ok getting married next august and hoping to have about 3 weeks for our honeymoon. Im surprising her with the destination and am looking for a few recomendations. It has to be warm with a variety of things to do not just crash on the beach. Weve been all over europe, america, peru, bolivia, south africa, oz and egypt before so not any of these. Kind of thinking Tanzania, Indonesia or sri lanka. However not so sure about security issues especially when booking for a year from now. Anyone out there have a great honeymoon and want to throw me a few ideas id be very grateful.

You should be setting criteria for yourself to help in making a choice of honeymoon destination.

The first (obviously) is budget. No point planning Koh Samui if you can only affort Killorglin.
Second. What type of holiday interests you? Beach? Adventure? Cities/Culture?
Third. Dream destinations. You may only have the money for this type of holiday once in your life (or certainly for a few years after you pay for your wedding :D), so make it special. For example, if beaches and sun are your thing, I bet you've seen beaches in movies or in brochures or holiday shows that have fired your imagination, so why not investigate some of those.
Lastly: Climate. Make sure the weather is generally suitable for the time of your honeymoon. You wouldn't want to be in the Carribean or Gulf of Mexico in September, for example, when the hurricane season peaks. It's always worth finding out if it's monsoon or typhoon season where you plan to go.

We went to Cuba for our honeymoon and would dearly love to go again before Castro dies and the Americans start flocking to it as they do the rest of the Carribean.

Best of luck with the honeymoon (and the wedding of course!).

As part of our round the world trip for our honeymoon we stopped off in Hawaii. I have to say it was one of the most amazing places I have ever been. We spent one evening sitting our by the pool on the sun loungers, drinking cocktails listening to the Hawaiian band and hula dancers. It does not get much more romantic than that. You could maybe consider a 2 stop holiday taking in L.A. or San Francisco.
