Problem with my Creative MuVo V200

Well the story is I bought this player 2 months ago. Worked great - drag and drop. I loaded up my songs using our home PC. It got no use there for about 2 weeks. Then the other night I got the notion of sticking a new album on it using my new laptop to transfer this time, instead of the PC. I plugged it in and nothing happened, just the noise it makes when you plug it in and out constantly every 2 seconds or so. It doesn't appear in My Computer and I tried installing the given software and the player ain't being recognised. I've tried every USB port I have. Yesterday I tried the PC and same problem. Today I tried a friends laptop and nothing showed up. It just makes that annoying sound. The player itself works perfectly still! Sounds great, menu still the same etc. It's just I can't add new files. Anybody know what could be wrong with it? I can't believe for one second it's the computer(s) bugging up. It's got to be the player itself surely

    Thanks in advance

Never had a creative so i dont know much about them, but ill try ;)

Check that the USB ports are enabled, i had a problem a while ago with that for my player. Otherwise I think you should bring it back to the shop to check if its working right. Thats as far as I can go Im afraid, unless theres a way to reset it etc. I was browsing for a support page on creative.com, to no avail, I couldnt find any others either, ahh im no help at all :D:D

Sorry to hear that - did you do it like this?

To install the firmware, do the following:
Connect your player to your PC.
    Double-click the downloaded firmware file.
If you are prompted to reset your player, click OK.
If the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on the computer, follow the instructions on screen and complete the Wizard. The recovery driver is automatically installed on your PC and the Player is set in the recovery mode.
You are then prompted with the firmware dialog box, click Start and follow the instructions on the screen.
During the firmware upgrade you will be requested to format device, Select 'Yes' to continue.
Ensure not to disconnect your player during the Firmware Update.

If prompted to set your player in Recovery mode, disconnect your player from your PC.
Press and hold the Play button while connecting the player to the USB port.
Continue to hold the Play button for about 10 seconds after your player is connected to the USB port.
When the Find New Hardware dialog box appears on your PC screen, release the Play button.
If this is the first time a player is installed as Player Recovery Device, Windows will find a Player Recovery Device (or USB Device), and prompt you for drivers. Click on No , and select Do not search. I will choose the driver to install. Windows will install the necessary drivers automatically.
Double click on the downloaded firmware again

Did what you said above. Still not working. Error message when trying to update firmware - operating software timed out. Could be the fact i'm using XP media centre 05 as opposed to XP home on PC? Hope my media centre thing hasn't bugged it completely! I'll try it on my pc and see what happens. I'll be back...
