Just get a form from the local police station, get it stamped and head into the Passport office on Molesworth Street. They can get you an emergency one on the day afaik.

You will need to provide evidence of your travel dates, i.e. flight tickets. Otherwise they will not process urgent passports. Prepare for a long wait and don't even think of complaining!

Public Counter Urgent Fee = €50

Payable, upon proof of urgent travel, for passports required to be issued on the same or next day following application. This fee is in addition to the appropriate passport fee as set out above.

Please note that this is not an ‘on demand’ service and is only available for same/next day urgent travel.

An emergency passport is different from an "urgent" one and is issued in the event of a sudden death/illness of a family member abroad etc.

You should be able to get an emergency passport on the day providing you bring the required documentation. The best thing to do is to give them a call first thing on Monday morning and arrange to go down there first thing Tuesday morning with all the documentation that you need. Just explain the story to them when you call them, ask them what you need etc. They're very helpful.

    The Passport Office,
    1a South Mall,
    Cork.
    Tel: (021) 494 4700
    Lo-Call (from outside the (021) area): 1890 426 900
    E-mail: passportcork@dfa.ie
Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (Closed at weekends)

Why would drunken fool want to go to Cork? Maybe he/she lives in Dublin. :D

PS It's an 'Urgent' Passport not an 'Emergency' one that is required

Allow at least three hours - that's what it took a friend of mine last year.
There were other people there who claimed to have been waiting much longer, so maybe allow longer.

Get in with your forms as soon as they open and make sure you're first in line - the security guy often opens the doors before the actual opening time.
