Audigy 2 problem

I have a basic Creative Audigy 2. I can't get it to work with my 5.1 speakers - only the front ones work, the rear and center speaker don't. Everything is wired correctly and it worked fine when I used onboard sound. I have onboard sound disabled and drivers uninstalled. I googled it and found a few people with similar problem but most said "Update fixed it". I've tried all the usual crap like set to 5.1 in Audio options etc.

As far as I can tell though I have the latest drivers so....don't know where to look for any updates!

    Any help? It's a DELL 5.1 setup.

I had this problem before, i found using slightly older drivers worked, And also in the control panel for the audigy 2 i had to put st gang on. and mut the centre/sub and rear speakers to get any sound from them.

Then i bought a x-fi and all was good

If it's the card that came with the dell 8400, use the dell drivers. The creative ones don't work well with it I found.

Just as a follow up, the sound quality is marginally better (better sound effects in game particularly), but overall you wouldn't notice a difference between the Audigy 2 and the onboard if you weren't looking for it....feel like getting it was a waste really.

all-so depends on your speakers man and other people can hear more detail in music then others can.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and I have to say I really do notice a difference in sound quality compared to my old onboard sound.

I have a Audigy 2 Platinum Ex, granted its a little more exclusive, but I definitely notice the difference.
