New Sky Installation

    My son had a Sky installation completed yesterday.
    As he is in a new house and does not presently have a phone, it
    was done on the basis on phone pending. We wanted to activated
    from my home (his Dad) this evening but Sky customer services said
    one needs to be in front of the box as they need certain information.

    Can anyone advise what info they need so we can get it from the box
    and still make call from here. ??? What CH should sky box be switched
    to or does it matter so long as it is switched on.??
    They said if the phone is not connect in 3/4 weeks they will disconnect.
    I have had Sky for probably 7 years and now Sky + for 2 years and have never ever connect to the phone line. I think its rubbish, they are just interested in selling interactive services.

    Step 1) Connect the box to the telephone line.
    Step 2) Press "SERVICES" then press "4", "0" and finally "SELECT"
    Step 3) Go to new installation, should be 6.
    Step 4) Just follow the instructions to the end until you get the message "INSTALLATION COMPLETE".

    That would be great if he had phone line.
    I am trying tofind what info they require. ?
    I guess its the box number.

    Oh, I thought you had the box in your house. If you bring the box to your house though and do what I said it will save you a phone call to Sky and the channels will be activated instantly. Ring sky and you could be waiting for the box to activate for hours.

    Sky may not manaully activate your card anyway, as it's not marked as an NPL (no phone line) installation.

    if it's at all possible, I'd say do what bigpaddy suggests. It'd be handier than arguing with Sky CS!

    Thanks for the advice, I should have taken the box to my house
    but can still do it next week if they refuse to activate it on the phone.
