Connecting satellite and DTT/analogue

Hi, just joined the board. I have been reading through post regarding receiving DTT. Just looking for some help on what could be possible to receive. I am living in Kilcoole (couple of miles from Greystones).
At the moment I am receiving NTL by MMDS through a community aerial. I also have Humax 5400 stb and motorised system for football & Euro stuff.
I have a cable leading from the stb back to the outside ntl box and this is put into a splitter and then sent to rooms around the house.
I had bought a setpal box and wideband aerial nearly two year ago to try and get freeview from Wales as had read that certain parts of South Wicklow could receive this, never got round to trying it out.
I was just wondering if I can use the aerial just to get rte and the likes and can this signal be put on to the same cable as the satellite signal so both can be seen around the house. what other pieces of equipment would i need. I have been reading about masthead amps and diplexers, not sure what i would need.
any help would be much appreciated

if the setpal has an RF out, then it should be possible to feed the setpal with an aerial for DTT, and then route its RF out to the RF in of the Humax.. so that the Humax RF out has two channels tunable in the other rooms. Obviously you may need to change either frequency in case they overlap and cause interference.

If either or both boxes have scart outputs, you can always feed these direct to a main TV.

You can enhance this setup with Sky eye receivers in the other rooms and a compatible distribution amp that will power the eyes as well as retransmit the infrared signals to the setpal or humax. You could also use IR wireless senders.

thanks for that. another question, the ntl box i have, not sure of model be its the tiny new ones that have an rf out on it. i have tried to use this to send to other rooms, but no joy. when u say the rf frequency, is this in the rf channel in the settings, i have seen the humax uses 36 or 40?, not sure have to check. i presume then that these have to be different if multiple signals going down the wire

For simplicity, RF Frequency is basically the RF Channel (channel is simple way of showing freqs). Each box would need to be at a different frequency/channel, but not too close together either. Maybe 3 channels apart, eg, 36, 39, 42 as long as there is no interference from off-air signals on those.

Note: Just because a set top box has an RF Loopthrough, does not neccessarily mean it has a modulator (for watching in other rooms). It may only output via Scart.
