Was the full moon shining directly on the SE last night? At least three prolonged rows/arguments! Usually a very smooth tourney

    any physical violence?

The one towards the end (when down to 11 people, I think) was quite intresting... someone went all in, next player folded and threw his card across to the dealer, but only for them to land close to the cards of the player that went all in. And somehow the dealer managed to take both players cards in, even though the all-in player had his fingers on his, and they were still behind the line.

Big argument if the hand was dead or not. Took 15 or 20 minutes to continue the game.

No violence. Was bonkers though, lots of arguing from table two, spent the majority of the night at table 4, which was very pleasant.

I was the pusher and believe the correct ruling was made eventually. However I was disappointed at the attitude of the BB in particular with his continuous aggressive insistence that my hand should have been mucked even though he did not see circumstances. He then threw his hand away like a big baby moaning 'FFS...'Good that one guy saw the actions and confirmed them to TD.

As unfortunate as it might be. I believe the correct ruling would have been that your hand was dead. As it is up to each player to protect his cards. However it sounds like you were doing that. So an interesting one to throw out to the TDS that read this forum. Duck?

No Len your right, he cant be protecting his hand that well if the dealer was still able to take then, its half the dealers fault also, but thats the rule, wasn't the hand his rake, its dead.

I've noticed that a lot of players don't protect their cards very well anyway, just leaving them floating behind the line. But out of curiousity, if your cards were under a card protector, or your chips (which is what I always do), is your hand definately safe even if hit by other cards?

It would be hard to imagine that other cards would lodged under your card protector, so the situation shouldn't arise, but if it did I'm not sure. I'm sure the dealer or the other player would have to know the other player cards.

Do alot of the players here use card protectors.
I've seen alot of good/fancy ones and some realy stupid ones. I've never bothered with one and just depended on my own ability to protect them,
Are they worth it or more bother than help.

first rule of poker - use protection, better safe than sorry

use a chip or a coin as a card protector and youll be fine

I always use chips as a card protector, but I have one of those shiny Fitz protectors which is handy when you're all-in. I find that card protectors just get in the way generally.

Can't believe it but I agree with you Mr. L.
The Hand is dead and the dealer is having an early night.

I have a coin that I put on my cards before I see them. This protects against any "mistake" that the dealer can make. If, as in the op, cards are thrown in such a way to "mix them up" the coin can seperate them. Sometimes it looks pedantic but it also avoids such arguments.
