Functionality request: inform user PM Inbox is full?

Is it possible to add functionality that would email a user to let them know their inbox is full and that other users are being prevented from contacting them whenever the following error message is displayed?

$user has exceeded their stored private messages quota and can not accept further messages until they clear some space.

I know the admin team are swamped at the moment so please consider this as a request for the future when things are quieter that I'm just posting now while I remember it.

Functionality is there: There's a nice colourful graph at the top of the inbox page showing their space left. If they can't see that what makes you think they'll see another message?

Graph is there if they login to their PM's. What I'm suggesting is adding a phpmail() function to email the user letting them know they can't receive more PM's on boards.ie and that someone is trying to get in contact with them.

i thought they got an email when their inbox was full.

Emails you when you're inbox is full and someone trys to send you a pm, doesn't work if the inbox if simply full.

I've upped the allowance for registered users from 150 to 300.

Right after I did a huge clear out of all my pms.

Does my uber big mod inbox get doubled too? Not that it's ever gone above the 100 PMs mark ever.

Christmas came twice today! Registered users upped to 500.

Use the PM Export option. Bottom right corner. Export your old PMs, then delete them. You have a comprehensive choice of formats to select.

latest version of vB tells you when your PM box is 90%+ full - it displays a little notification under the Welcome, $user / last visited box so you can't miss it.
