No reply from pay rise request?!

I sought a pay rise two months ago, and while I was told all sorts of great things such as yeah we value you and there’s the chance of promotion I’ve heard nothing back.
Does that mean I was unsuccessful? Or could it possibly take this long for my boss to get approval to give me a raise?

2 months ago! They should have gotton back to you within days at most - not weeks or god forbid months!!! They are trying the old Irish route of - dont talk about it and he will forget about it.

If they value you that much - they will communicate with you a bit more. Ask them tomorrow morning for a quick chat and just say - be honest with me - whats going on?

When it comes to a pay raise, most employers becomes a** h*les. All sort of things about 'we're not in a position of giving you a raise', and 'we'll see next year' come up. I know its torturous, have gone through it a few times :(

They think you are a mushroom. Time to brush off the CV.

So what are my options? before I took the job I was told that my salary would be reviewed along with my performance after x amount of time.
Now that I am in, the goalposts have been moved.
What should I do?, I like my job but it doesn't pay enough and they get value for money from me!
To be honest I'm fairly pi€€ed off about it...has anyone else been in my shoes, if so how did you get your raise, or did you have to move on?

...how did you get your raise, or did you have to move on?

Wear a "interview suit" into work one day, and take slightly longer for lunch then you usually do

I find you either get raises without too much effort, because they value what you are doing, or you don't get them at all because they don't. In the latter case I just move, once I've got what I want out of the job, experience, skillset or whatever.

I'm in the same postion as OP. I havent been waiting as long (maybe 3 weeks).

I work for a small company so getting every one together to sit down and talk about it is hard.

I'll be giving them one more week and then an updated C.V will be sent out. Doesnt mean I'll be changing jobs just keeping my options open.

Taking "mystery half days" can be a good way of getting their attention. Not pulling a sickie or anything just ask for half days off.

Also leaving the jobs page open on the canteen table works a treat ;)
