Extending Wireless Range

    Hello....

What’s the simplest way to extend a wireless network?

The equipment I have at the moment is

    Canyon Router CN-WF514 - IEEE 802.11B/G
I replaced the ordinary Arial that came with it and screwed on one that’s supposed to be 3 times the strength (probably extended the wireless router by about 10 feet max)

I have another router identical to that one and also have an access point

I do understand that I can daisy chain these to make the whole area a hot spot

    I haven’t done that yet...

At the moment I suppose I am getting about a 30ft radius wireless link but I need double that...

Instead of me daisy chaining the routers or access point is there a router on the market that would just give me the 60ft? (90ft) any ft more than30)

Or back to the initial question what’s my best solution

My broadband connection requires a pppoe connection

    Thanks

    Tom

Usually the problem is the radiocard in the laptop is not sensitive at all , you need next to nothing to go 30ft.Maybe get a better radio card , or add an antenna to the laptop instead.

Router doesn't sound to be acting very well. My bog standard WRT54G (official firmware) can easily reach 30ft. If I added a high gain antenna to it like you did to yours I would see a huge performance increase. If I was to run third party firmware on it I could further boost the signal power.

I would look at getting one router working and seeing how much coverage you can get out if it, before setting up the other APs. A change in hardware might be worthwhile.

The walls in the pub are about 4 solid blocks thick..
Router is fine as i have used a netgear router with the same effect
