Hello, i'm new to satellitesand bought a satellite system sky digibox and 43cm sky dish. in tryin to tune for astra with a signal meter i get only a strong signal strength reading but nothing or very little (10%) in signal quality which i understand is the important one.on the next bar it changes from not locked to okay and the one below it says 013e which i understand to be hotbird
13e. i cant get anything at all for astra 28 (002).it doesnt lock on either and what i'm wondering is would the dish be too small for dublin 43cm and should i go for the bigger zone 2 or is it a question of just trying, trying. am i near astra if i can vaguely get hotbird?
i understand that you get lots of these beginner questions, i have tried looking through the archives so i do appreciate your responses, thanks nev

are you sure its a sky digibox? you mentioned hotbird, does this appear on the screen or on your sat meter?

Well, assuming the dish is pointing at Hotbird, from behind the dish Astra 2 is a bit more to the left, and a slightly lower elevation.

Is there any obstacles like trees that may block signal in front of the dish by any chance?

    Thanks for replying,
it is a sky digibox thomson 4041 and it says on the screen 013e,as regards the obstacles there are trees but they are a good bit from where i'm pointing at the moment a good turn of the dish if you like, also i dont think they would be high enough.you seemed surprised at it being a sky digibox , the guy i bought it from said he downloaded the latest software, maybe a problem?
    thanks again, nev

Yes I am surprised because only the very first digiboxes had any settings at all for hotbird.

thanks lads, after trying again and aiming a good bit more to the left i finally managed to get a signal, i was surprised how much to the left it was as i thought these satellites were in a cluster i.e millimetre movement but it was more like 4 inches thanks again youve been a great help, i was just wondering what does it mean when you get a different transport stream than expected ie 0806 instead of the usual astra transport stream, thanks again nev
